Bequia My Bequia

Just had to add this picture. This was taken on the island of Bequia, which is part of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It's taken from the Muskito Beach Bar at Friendship Bay Hotel on the eastern side of Bequia.

We stayed in Bequia for 10 days in April 2004 and April 2005. Our accommodations where at a house called Casablanca which sits right at the bottom of the steep main road hill going into the Lower Bay area. The house is managed by Burt and Kay King who happen to own Kingsville Apartments.

If you have never been to Bequia, I highly recommend it. What a great vacation.

Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines - Boudicca

Just return at the end of March from a short 5 day cruise on the Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines Boudicca. The cruise line, while owned by a family in Norway, is based in England and has very english passengers. I wouldn't say not totally unlike any US based cruiseline, but many many differences.

The ship is actually an older ship built in the early 1970's. It's a smaller ship holding just around 800 passengers. Nice Cabins, not stuffy and not totally to small, but just right. I got lucky and had a cabin to myself, but even with 2 people it would have been fine. The food is definately English. Traditional English Breakfast (sausages, kippers, cooked tomatoes. those types of things). Lunch was really good (nice cold salads, seafood, some hot items like beef/chicken, pasta etc) and so was dinner(my favorite was the Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding.. very English but I love it. The shows left a little to be desired but overall pretty good. Great Comedian/magician on our last night.

Overall really good experience.

Farewell to the France

The SS France, one of the worlds greats grand dams of the sea is headed to scrap.. Unfortunately that's the fate of many old cruise lines.

Norwegian Cruise Lines rechristaned this ship The SS Norway after they purchased the ship in 1979. She was taken over by Star Cruises in 2000, and renamed Blue Lady in 2003. She hadn't sailed since then when a fired onboard killed 8 crewman.

This great old lady of the sea is now lost to the breakers.

Cruise News - Sailing from Barbados

Tired of sailing out of the traditional ports of call.. Miami, Tampa, LA etc.. Why not take a sailing from Barbados.. yes.. Thats right.. the caribbean island of Barbados. You can fly in on a Sunday.. Spend a few days seeing the island.. then you can pick up.. Carnival Destiny.. and sail from Barbados to Aruba, San Juan, St. Thomas, Dominica and back in to Barbados. (you've got 2 Fun Days at Sea on this itinerary.. one between Barbados and Aruba and one between Aruba and San Juan. Then you can either spend a few more days in Barbados.. siteseeing of course and then fly home.. or fly back the same Wednesday the ship pulls back into port.

It's a great cruise and you get to see more of Barbados than you would (and I recommend that).

Not many cabins sailing from Barbados so if you are interested let me know. It's great.

Ramblings..

Ok.. So it's 1143pm.. the same day I created this blog. I'm still learning how to work this thing.. it really is going to be interesting.

Well the name of the whole blog has changed since this morning.. It will likely change again before it's all said and done. Not really sure what I'm doing. Think what I'd like to do is give some info on cruises.. maybe sell one or 2 if thats allowed. I'm totally in this for making sure every one knows what my favorite thing to do is (even though I don't get to do it very much.. Thats go on a cruise people.. not what you are thinking.).

I also realize I'm going to have to work on my spelling.... and grammer.. this should really be fun.

ok.. i'm headed to bed.

chat later

I'm actually here.

Wow.. well I've don it.. I've created a blog.. this should be intersting. Now I have to figure out what to write. Well the title is Cruise Holidays but maybe I should have titled it Sunniebgi's Holidays. that way I could have covered both Cruising and other Holiday/Vacation things.
